Sylvia Pankhurst tea towel

Sylvia Pankhurst tea towel

Estelle Sylvia Pankhurst (1882 – 1960) was an English campaigner for the suffragette movement in the United Kingdom. She worked alongside her mother, Emmeline, and her sister, Christabel, with the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) though by 1914 she had many disagreements with them over the route the WSPU was taking and she eventually left. With the help of Keir Hardie she set up her own organisation, the 'East London Federation of Suffragettes', but later changed to the 'Women's Suffrage Federation' and then to the 'Workers Socialist Federation'. She was for a time a prominent leftwing, communist, and anti-war campaigner who then devoted herself to the cause of anti-fascism and to Haile Selassie and Ethiopia where she spent her remaining years.

Half Panama unbleached cotton (heavy weight, textured finish). Stitched on all four sides. Includes hanging loop. Measures approximately 48 x 70cm. Machine wash at 40 degrees max. We recommend that before you use your tea towel for the first time you wash it at least once to soften up the material and make it more absorbent for drying dishes. Please note size can vary slightly.
