Votes for Women Wanted Christmas cards pack of 8

The image on this Christmas card is taken from a 1909 poster advertising 'Votes for Women' the official weekly newspaper of the Women's Social and Political Union until 1912. The WSPU had split from the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies in 1903 in order to pursue more militant tactics. The poster was designed by Hilda Dallas (1878-1958), using the British Suffragette colours of purple, green and white and portrays a Suffragette selling the newspaper as a decidedly feminine figure to counter contemporary criticism that the movement was straying from the traditional image of womanly elegance.

Pack of 8 cards, with matching envelopes made of recycled paper. The cards are printed on FSC certified board which is manufactured from fibre sourced from sustainably managed Swedish forests, the most environmentally friendly option available (we don't use recycled board because that has to be bleached with harmful chemicals). The cards measure approx 4.1in x 5.8in (A6) and envelopes measure approx 6.4in x 4.5in (C6). Message inside: Seasons Greetings.
